These terms apply to meranitech.com, the Merani app for travellers and the Merani Partner app for businesses (together, "Merani" or "the service"). By using any of them you agree to these terms. Merani is operated by Veralyon, Tbilisi, Georgia ("we").

Businesses that list a place with Merani also sign a separate partner agreement. Where the two differ, the partner agreement prevails for that business.

What Merani is

Merani is a curated guide to places in Georgia: restaurants, wineries, guesthouses, tours, sights and more. Unlike an open directory, every published listing has been reviewed by our team, and many are visited in person.

The verified mark. A listing carries the Merani verified mark when one of our auditors has confirmed, on a given date, that the place exists, is open as stated and matches its listing. The mark is valid for up to 12 months from that check, after which the listing shows "verification in progress" until it is re-checked. The mark tells you that the details were true when we looked. It is not a guarantee of your own experience, of availability, of prices, or of anything that happens after the check.

Information can change. Opening hours, prices, menus and contacts are supplied by the business and checked by us, but they can change without notice. Confirm anything that matters to you directly with the place before you travel.

We are not a party to your dealings with a place. Any purchase, reservation or service is between you and the business. Merani does not take payments from travellers and does not act as an agent for either side.

Guest ratings

Travellers can rate a place with one to five stars, optional tags and an optional note. Ratings are anonymous: they are tied to a random id on your phone, not to a name or account. One phone can rate a place once; the rating can be changed for 30 days and is then locked.

When you rate, you agree that your rating:

reflects your own first-hand visit;
contains no personal data about other people (names of staff, phone numbers, photos of people);
contains nothing unlawful, defamatory, hateful, obscene or commercial;
was not paid for, requested by the business, or made to damage a competitor.

You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to show your rating and note in the apps and on the website. We may remove or hide a rating that breaks these rules or that we reasonably believe to be fake, and we may block an install that abuses the feature. Ratings are the opinions of travellers, not of Merani.

Booking requests

Where a place offers it, you can send a booking request (a table, a ticket, a tour, a room) through the app. A request is not a confirmed reservation. The business decides whether to accept it and answers you directly, using the contact details you gave. Prices, deposits, cancellations and everything else about the booking are governed by the business's own terms. Merani passes the request on and shows its status; it does not guarantee a reply or a place.

Partner accounts

If you manage a listed place through Merani Partner:

keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us at once if you think an account has been compromised; you are responsible for what is done through your organisation's accounts;
make sure what you publish about your place is true, current and yours to publish, including photos;
some changes (opening hours, phone, website, photos, offerings) go live at once; others (name, address, category, description, location, prices) are reviewed by our team first, and we may decline them;
we may suspend or remove a listing that turns out to be inaccurate, that fails an audit, that receives credible complaints, or whose fees are unpaid, as set out in the partner agreement.

Acceptable use

You may not:

scrape, copy or bulk-download listings, photos or ratings, or use them to build a competing service;
interfere with the service, probe or overload our systems, or bypass rate limits or security;
use the apps or API in a way that breaks the law or these terms, or that harms other users or the places listed;
misrepresent yourself as Merani, an auditor, or a business you do not represent.

The public API that the apps use is for the apps. Write to us if you want to build on it.

Content and intellectual property

The Merani name, logo, design, text written by our team, audit data and the compilation of listings belong to Merani or its licensors. Photos and descriptions of places belong to the businesses or photographers who supplied them, and are shown with their permission. You may use the service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, which includes sharing a link to a place. Anything else needs our written permission.

Availability and changes

Merani is a young service. Features may change, be added or be withdrawn; listings may be added or removed; the apps may be unavailable at times for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We may change these terms by publishing the new version here and updating the date at the top. If a change is significant we will say so in the apps or on the site. Using the service after that date means you accept the new terms.

Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided as it is and as available. To the extent permitted by the law of Georgia, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your reliance on a listing, a rating or a verified mark, from your dealings with a business, or from an interruption of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, or limits the rights that consumer protection law gives you in the country where you live.

Ending use

You can stop using Merani at any time; deleting the traveller app removes everything it stored on your phone. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms. Partner accounts end in accordance with the partner agreement.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Georgia. Disputes are settled by the courts of Tbilisi, Georgia, unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live. We prefer to solve things by email first: hello@meranitech.com.
